Since the inception of The Teresa Group in 1990, the Volunteer Program has brought together a dedicated group of trained volunteers who assist children and their families through a variety of programs and services.

There is an immediate need for Volunteers, Transportation via TTC, Leading the Way Program: Transport children to and from home on the TTC to this 9 week emotional support program. During program (10:30 a.m. – noon) the volunteer has free time to shop, read, relax!
Location: Throughout the GTA.
Dates: Saturday mornings, mid-April – mid-June (also mid-October – mid-December), for 9 weeks each session. Approximately 3 hours volunteering/week.
Qualifications:
- Respect for confidentiality.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- An understanding and ability to work with children of all social, religious and cultural backgrounds.
- A friendly, caring manner with good listening skills.
- Volunteers, Tutor/Mentor Program

The Teresa Group has an immediate need for two tutors.
Location: A library near Lawrence Avenue East and Victoria Park Avenue.
Day + Time: Tuesday evenings, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. January – June, 2012.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children/youth. Previous tutoring experience an asset.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Flexible, innovative team player, and self-motivated.
- College or University education.

- Volunteers, Drivers:
1. Assist families with transportation to medical or other appointments weekdays on an “as needed” basis.
2. Transport children/youth to Programs on Saturday mornings for 9 weeks in the spring and fall.
Location: Throughout the GTA.
Qualifications:
- Volunteers must have a car, a clean driving record and $1 million+ third party insurance.
- Careful and responsible driver.
- Respect for confidentiality.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- An understanding and ability to work with children of all social, religious and cultural backgrounds.
- A friendly, caring manner and good listening skills.
- Volunteers, Special Events
The Teresa Group has an urgent need for a Volunteer, Special Events to work closely with the Coordinator, Events to organize a “new” fundraiser to be offered April, 2012.
Location: The Teresa Group office, 124 Merton Street, Suite 104.
Position starts: Immediately.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills.
- Event planning and execution would be an asset.
- A spirit of hospitality and an outgoing personality.
- Organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm and ability to work independently.
- Awareness and understanding of the work and mandate of The Teresa Group.
- Volunteers, Special Events:
Assist staff and a team of volunteers in the planning, organizing and execution of two fundraisers, The Scotiabank Charity Challenge and The Mane Event.
Location: The Teresa Group office, 124 Merton Street, Suite 104.
Position starts: Immediately.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills.
- Event planning and execution would be an asset.
- A spirit of hospitality and an outgoing personality.
- Organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm and ability to work independently.
- Awareness and understanding of the work and mandate of The Teresa Group.
- Volunteers, Buddy Program:
Spend quality time with a child/youth offering friendly support in a non-judgmental and compassionate way.
Location: Throughout the GTA
Position starts: On an “as needed” basis.
Qualifications:
- Respect for confidentiality.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Strong communication skills and a non-judgmental nature.
- Ability to maintain firm boundaries and to volunteer within the parameters of the role.
- Understanding and ability to work with children of all social, religious and cultural backgrounds.
- Friendly, caring with good listening skills.
- Volunteers, Office Administration:
Support the professional staff by fulfilling various office duties; including reception, mail-out package preparation, filing, organization of the food bank/clothes bank.
